WherePark — Privacy Policy

WherePark ("the app") helps you automatically remember where you parked your car. This policy explains what data the app uses and how. In short: WherePark keeps your parking data only on your device and does not send it to us or sell it to anyone.

Who we are

Data the app uses

• Precise location (foreground and background). The app uses your device location to show your position on the map and to automatically detect and save the spot where you parked — including in the background, when the app is closed, because parking detection must work without you opening the app.
• Physical activity / activity recognition. The app uses Android's activity recognition to detect when you are driving and when you stop, so it can recognize a parking event.

How the data is used and stored

• Your parking locations are stored only locally on your device. They are not uploaded to any server controlled by the developer (the developer operates no servers and no user accounts).
• Location and activity are processed on the device to provide the core feature (detecting and showing your parking). Location is captured briefly at the moment you stop driving to record the parking point.

Data sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data. The app relies on the following third-party components to function:

• Google Play services (Fused Location & Activity Recognition). Provided by Google to detect location and activity. See Google's privacy policy.
• Map tiles from OpenStreetMap / CARTO / Esri. To display the map, your device requests map tiles for the area you are viewing; these providers may receive the map view request as part of normal map serving. Your saved parking list is never sent to them.
• Walking navigation. When you tap a parking pin, the app opens Google Maps with the destination, handing the request to Google Maps.

Permissions

• Location (fine, coarse, background) — to show your position and detect/save your parking automatically, including in the background.
• Physical activity — to detect driving vs. stopped.
• Notifications — to show the ongoing notification while detection is active.
• Foreground service — to keep parking detection running reliably.

You can turn detection off at any time from the app settings, and revoke permissions from Android settings.

Data retention & deletion

Parking data lives on your device only. You can delete individual parkings, clear everything from the app ("Reset all"), or uninstall the app to remove all data.

Children

WherePark is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date will change accordingly.
